ABOUT THE AUTHOR   /   AUTHOR AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Bavo Lievens studied Philosophy and Theology in The Netherlands and Belgium. He went to Taiwan (China) as a Catholic missionary, but after learning about Buddhism he went back and graduated in East Asian Studies from the Catholic University of Leuven and the National University of Gent. For five years he conducted 5-day and weekend courses at different Adult Education centers, on “Eastern Wisdom for the West,” and appeared twice on national television.  

 

He worked for the Belgian Foreign Service in Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore, for 14 years, and then moved to the US where he taught Buddhist Philosophy and Chinese Classics at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore for 14 years. His book is written with the help of Master Nan Huai-chin and other Chinese Buddhist teachers. It explains the universal truth and basic practice of the Buddhist enlightenment teachings.
